2024 was a year of change and excitement for BB, pivoting my baby from sustainable clothing using a mixture of sustainable and organic fabrics to the natural and underrated material which is wool, to say this was a really big step would be an understatement and to say I was nervous would be another. We didn’t know if it was going to work, if it would be a failure or not. But I could not have imagined a better result.
It might sound cliche but it was always a dream of mine to create knitwear from Cotswold wool, growing up on a farm in the cotswolds, cotswold lion sheep were a fundamental pillar in my childhood, from breeding to herding, from bathing to shearing of these incredible animals, they were a staple on the farm and my grandad taught me everything. So when he passed away when I was 18, I always wanted to use the incredible fleeces these animals product to create knitwear. Combining my love of animals and clothing, alongside paying homage to my grandads memory.
Since receiving our first spun wool yarn back in April we have launched in brick and mortar stockists across the cotswolds, expanded our online stockists, had to expand to a larger mill, launched knit your own packs, so you can knit our BB accessories at home with our tailor made pattern and BB Cotswold Wool. As well as launching our first ever knitwear collection, we sent one of our BB Cotswold Sweater Vests to The Princess Royal, which was a pinch me moment and highlight of the year for a founder and I am incredibly excited to see what this year brings.
I just want to take a moment to say thank you for everything this year, from our amazing farmers and adorable sheep to our talented knitters and incredible customers. Together we are all making a positive difference in this damaging industry, one step at a time we will reduce the negative impacts of fast fashion on our environment, animals and people.
2025 brings an exciting growth stage for BB and we hope to see you in more stockists and touchpoint across both the US and UK.
Thank you, Emily xx
