Made to Be Worn, Repaired and Loved

Made to Be Worn, Repaired and Loved | Beatrice Bayliss

At Beatrice Bayliss, we believe true luxury isn't about owning more it's about choosing pieces that stay with you.

Our knitwear is crafted from 100% British wool, designed to be worn through the seasons, cared for thoughtfully and treasured for years to come. Like any natural fibre, wool only becomes more beautiful with time when it's looked after properly. One of wool's greatest qualities is its resilience, naturally breathable, temperature-regulating and odour-resistant, your knit doesn't need washing after every wear. In fact, simply airing it outside or near an open window is often all it needs to feel refreshed. The less you wash your knitwear, the longer it will retain its natural softness and shape.

Wash with Care When your knit does need cleaning, treat it gently. Hand wash in cool water using a detergent designed specifically for wool. Avoid rubbing, wringing or twisting the fibres, as this can cause unnecessary stress to the garment. Instead, gently squeeze out excess water before laying it flat to dry. Never tumble dry and always reshape your knit while it's still damp.

You may notice small bobbles appearing after the first few wears. This is completely normal and a sign that your knit is made from natural wool rather than synthetic fibres. Simply remove any pills with a wool comb or fabric shaver, taking care not to be too vigorous. A few minutes of care will keep your knit looking beautiful for years.

When the seasons change, fold your knitwear rather than hanging it, as hanging can stretch the fibres over time.

Store pieces in a cool, dry place and consider using natural moth repellents such as cedar wood or lavender to protect your knitwear while it's not being worn. We don't believe a loose stitch or small hole should mark the end of a garment's life. Wool is one of the few fibres that can be beautifully repaired, allowing your favourite knit to continue being worn and loved for years to come. Whether it's re-sewing a seam, repairing a snag or mending a small hole, caring for your knit is part of its journey. Every repair tells a story; a reminder that well-made clothing deserves a long life.

At Beatrice Bayliss, we create knitwear with longevity at its heart. Every piece begins with British wool, passes through the hands of skilled British makers and is designed to become part of your everyday wardrobe not just for one season, but for many years ahead. By caring for your knitwear, you're not simply preserving a garment. You're supporting a slower way of dressing, one that values craftsmanship, natural materials and the beauty of buying less, but buying better.

Because the best knitwear isn't just made to be worn. It's made to be worn, repaired and loved.
